What the papers said...

"A newly formed group of women writers in Kerry - the Kerry Women Writers' Network - was launched ...by Minister Jimmy Deenhihan...A general meeting to elect officers will be called shortly, but a Facebook page, an email address... kerrywomenwriters@gmail.com and a blog - kerrywomenwriters.blogspot.com are already up and running... "Minister Deenihan put the idea around that there was a need for women writing in Kerry to associate and to become visible, to share resources and information..."

Red Hen Publishing founder Bridget McAuliffe is quoted as saying "It is not another writers' group, it is a network and the aim is to get every woman that is writing in Kerry to be on the database. The objective is to bring women's writing to the public in different ways and at different venues, such as pop-up poetry events, for example. We also plan to host workshopts for writers."

The Network meets on the last Saturday of every month in the County Library in Tralee from 11am - 1pm.

One of the main projects the network will undertake is the compilation of an anthology of Kerry Women's writing and the initial projection is that this will be completed by the spring of 2015.

  1. I loved being part of a fantastic team, helping organise the event. It went very well. Feedback was very possitive. I thoroughy enjoyed all the readings. Everyone of the Women are very Talented. People thanked me for my reading and I want to say Thank you to all those who came and told me, they enjoyed it. And of course it was great to donate the proceeds to the two charities. Well done to everyone involved. And a big Thank you to the Minister for his support.
